So, I auditioned for High School Musical, like I said I would. I guess it went pretty well. I've never done anything like it before in my life. Basically, Patricia and I got there and we had to fill out some forms and they gave us numbers to put on our shirts. We did all that and then waited for awhile. They finally called our numbers so we went into the theater, and waited in line until it was our turn to sing. I was first, and like I said, I thought it was a strong audition. Robert Strickland was playing the accompaniment (He's the guy who played for Libby's Cabaret) so it was nice to actually know the accompanist! After the song, they made me do some scales so they could see how high I can sing. I reached an Ab above middle C! That's pretty good for me. The director then asked me if I am a dancer, and I said that I consider myself a singer before a dancer. He also asked me if I'd ever done any tumbling before (I haven't). That was it! Thank you! Good job.
Then, Patricia auditioned. She was amazing (as usual) and then they said thanks to her and she started to walk off, but the choreographer stopped her and asked her to come back to the dance auditions at 1:00! They hadn't asked me to stay, but I asked the coordinator if I could and she said yes. So we went back in around 1:30 because they were running late and learned the choreography with the group. Let me tell you, it was INTENSE. Patricia or I can show any of y'all who are curious some of it. We had to learn it very fast, and it was performed very fast. I ended up chickening out and decided not to make a fool of myself and waited outside while Patricia auditioned. She came out in a little while, and said that it went pretty well and we were about to leave, when the coordinator ran out, "WAIT, #569, we need to see you again! So, Patricia made it down to like the last 15 people at the audition and they danced some more. They then wanted to hear the dancers who hadn't sung before, so since Patricia had already sung they didn't need to hear her again.
It was a great experience for both of us, no matter what the result will be. I still feel like I have a shot because they didn't really give anybody at the audition any clue as to whether they made it in or not. They just said "thank you" to most of them, or "thank you, could you come back at 1:00 so you can dance for us." Not everybody in the show has to do a very intense dance routine, so I think they're looking for plain singers also - which means I'm still in the running. I dunno. If they want me, or want to hear me again, they'll hopefully call me. I hope Patricia and I both make it!
